Congratulations to all those who took part in the elections whether you helped run them, stood as a candidated or simply used your vote! Over 2,500 people voted on Thursday - which is about 20% of the students on and off campus - so fantastic turnout!  Congratulations to all those elected and comiserations to those of you who wren’t this time round - don’t let it put you off though, there are many more ways to stay involved in the union and there’ll be plenty of other chances fou you to run for the same or other positions in the near future.  Non-Sabb results are available from the link above and JCR results are to follow!

Union Election Day

Today at 10.00am polling stations across the University will open for voting! The right to vote for your Union officers is an important right and one which we should all value. Decisions are made by those who show up and today is decision time so to all my fellow student union members, make the journey to your college porters lodge and carry out your democratic right to VOTE, for YOU and YOUR UNION.

Today you have the ability to shape your Union by electing the officers you want in the many roles and fulfilling the many responsibilities in your union. If you are not satisfied by the quality of candidates then you have the right to vote for RON (Re-Open Nominations) and still know that you have taken part in the democracy, so journey to your polling station and feel proud to be a voter!

Positions you can vote for!

 JCR Positions (with the exception of positions as outlined in individual college constitutions)

All Non-Sabbatical Positions with the excepion of the School of Health and Medicine Faculty Rep)

 

When and where!

10am - 6pm, Porters Lodge of all colleges (undergraduate and postgraduate(residents only))

10AM – 6PM LUSU Building for Postgraduate non-residents

6pm – 8pm LUSU Building for all

Make A Difference: Stand For Election!

Currently nominations are open for LUSU’s non- sabbatical officer positions and two new positions for Student Trustees on the new LUSU Trustee Board. If you want to make a real difference to life at Lancaster and pick up some invaluable skills and experience along the way, why not stand for election?

To stand you need two students and full members of the union to propose and second you. Pop into the Union for more information and/or Nominations Form - Either Sandeep, Janie and Claire will be more than happy to help

New Campaign Rules & Regs!

Just to let you know we have a shiney new set of Campaign Rules and Regulations which is thepolicy that runs alongside the new Elections Bye Law.

 The new Elections Bye Law, and Campaign Rules and Regulations are now in place and will be used for the Week 8 elections!

Just to let you know, notice of the Week 8 Union and JCR Elections was officially put up in the LUSU foyer on Friday 31st October 2008. The notice of election details are as follows:

POSITIONS AVAILABLE

All JCR Positions (with the exception of those which specifically state otherwise within the individual college constitutions)

All Non-Sabbatical Positions (with the exception of the School of Health and Medicine Faculty Rep)

Don’t Forget to Vote!

Don’t forget to use your vote this Thursday in the Union’s Bye Elections for:

  1. A School of Health and Medicine Rep
  2. Union Race Relations Officer
  3. NUS Delegation

Polling stations will be open from 10am-6pm in undergraduate colleges and there is a station in the library for postgraduates. From 6pm -8pm you’ll be able to vote in the main LUSU Building. Unfortunately no candidate stepped forward for the sabbatical Ed and Welf position. Read more news stories about the elections via SCAN.

We’ve A New Election Bye Law!

Great news! Last week’s Union Council has passed a new Election Bye Law to govern how the Union’s elections are run. The new bye law drafted by an election Sub Working party modernises the way our elections can be held and will enable more flexible campaign and election procedures.

Elections are here again, but this Michaelmas Term they’ve arrived sooner than usual! There are two positions available, so if you want to represent the students of Lancaster University and believe you have what it takes, then check out the information below by clicking on the link of the position you’re interested in.
